The foundation stone of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council of Indian Institute of Management Rohtak, then Entrepreneurship Cell (ECIR), was laid on 5th June 2014. The cell has signed an MoA with National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation for skill development of entrepreneurs from backward classes. Since its inception, the team has been working perpetually to build a vibrant ecosystem for promoting entrepreneurship inside the campus as well as outside.
It is the relentless efforts of the faculty and student members of Entrepreneurship Cell for 2 years, which led to the establishment of Bizdome Incubation Council on 4th June 2016. Ashutosh Garg, founder and chairman of Guardian Pharmacy joined as chairman of the council in 2016. The council was identified as one of the 18 technology business incubators to be scaled up as per funding model of Department of Science and Technology as a part of Startup Action Plan. In 2017, Unisolar became the first startup by an IIM Rohtak alumnus to be incubated by Bizdome. With Bizdome spreading its wings and incubating 3 startups namely, Knodues, SmartCure, and UniSolar, we plan to achieve even bigger milestones in the near future.
E-Cell also conducts various events throughout the year to promote the entrepreneurial spirit such as Ignitus, Genesis, and the annual entrepreneurship summit in the month of December. During these events, in the last few years, we have witnessed some prominent personalities, like Hon’ble cabinet minister Shri Suresh Prabhu, Dr. Subhash Chandra, Dr. A.S. Pillai, Ananya Birla among others coming and enlightening the budding entrepreneurs with their wisdom and experience.
The E-Cell, IIM Rohtak has been renamed in 2018 to Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council, Indian Institute of Management Rohtak as per the initiative of Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, to set up Innovation Councils at institutions of national importance.
